Biography

When you take a glance at the first rows at Woomb’s shows, you immediately notice something particular in the air: everyone at the audience – from teenagers and people in their 20’s to long-standing music fans who have waited long for something this authentic and soul-hitting to emerge on the local scene – are collectively experiencing the moment, at the delicate control of frontperson Hristo Yordanov.

Less than two years after bursting on the scene, Bulgarian duo Woomb proved to be not only a local phenomenon gathering a community of fans through a genre-bending sound but a creative force on an unstoppable journey. Where will it take them?

Already before the release of their To Never Fear the Sun EP, Woomb proved to be able to push boundaries, sound skipping through a variety of music and cinematic influences. The act, initially recording between Sofia and London, is consisted of Hristo Yordanov, a young singer-songwriter, with a background in visual arts and US-raised composer/producer Gueorgui Linev. He built an impressive portfolio even before Woomb - Gueorgui is also known as a founder of Billboard-charting project Kan Wakan and for working with Baby Keem, Thundercat, Moses Sumney, current Linkin Park singer Emily Armstrong among others.

After increased coverage and first international tours, Woomb is now one of the most exciting new acts in the South-East region. The latter is evidenced by their nomination for the Music Moves Through Europe, EU’s prize for emerging artists, as well as appearances on showcases like SoAlive in Sofia, MMB in Bucharest, upcoming performances on ESNS in Groningen, MENT in Ljubljana and SXSW in Austin, US.

Woomb, a duo which morphs into an ambitious six-piece live act on stage, turned heads last year with the haunting ballad ‘Pray for the Worst’, followed by the ambitious multi-layered ‘Last Rays’ and the more guitar-heavy fan favorite ‘Picture of a Deer’, so far only released live on YouTube as the most direct reference for Woomb’s explosive performances.
